Race Basics

The Race for the Cure is our major fundraising event of the year that celebrates survivorship; honors those who have lost their battle, and most importantly raises funds and awareness for the fight against this life threatening disease.  The Race is a 5K with an optional shorter family route.  All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, even in the event of inclement weather.

Team Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup is at the Salvation Army, 680 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. 

9/22/2014- 4 PM to 7 PM Team Packet Pickup

9/23-9/25/2014- 10 AM to 7 PM Team Packet Pick Up 

9/26/2014- 10 AM to 6 PM Team Packet Pick Up

Individual Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup is at the Salvation Army, 680 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. 

9/23-9/25/2014- 10 AM to 7 PM Individual Packet Pickup

9/26/2014- 10 AM to 6 PM Individual Packet Pick Up

Fundraising Drop-Off

Cash, checks (made payable to Komen Northwest NC), Visa and MasterCard accepted.  Donations can also be made online, mailed to 1106 Burke Street, Winston-Salem NC 27101 (please include a Fundraising Form), dropped off at the Affiliate Office (1106 Burke Street, Winston-Salem NC 27101) or collected day of the Race at the fundrasing table.  For any questions regarding fundrasing drop off please call the office at 336-721-0037.

  6:30 a.m.      BB&T Team Tailgate Opens (roads close at 6:45 a.m.)
  
7:30 a.m.      K&W Survivor Café Opens/Gates to BB&T Ballpark Open
  
8:00 a.m.      Start Line Announcements and Presentations
 
8:00 a.m.      Timed Runners Report to the Start Line
  
8:20 a.m.      Timed 5K Run Starts
  
8:30 a.m.      Non-timed 5K Run/Walk and Family Walk Start
10:00 a.m.      Stage Presentations at Main Stage (Inside the Ballpark)
10:30 a.m.      Novant Health Survivor Processional/Survivor Photo; 2014 Faces of Breast Cancer introductions & Survivor of the Year Announcement

Important Additional Information

  • Event is held regardless of weather
  • Due to insurance please leave your pets, bicycles, skates, skateboards, and scooters at home
  • Stroller and joggers are welcomed however please try to lineup near the back of the pack
  • Don't forget your cash to purchase Komen Merchandise and other goodies
  • Primo and Komen Northwest NC encourage you to bring your water bottle to help our Race go Green.  Primo water will provide hydration stations through out the Race and Celebration areas.
  • All bags will be searched upon entering the ballpark.  Please make sure your belongings are we labeled. 
  • T-Shirts are available on a first come, first served basis
